PRA Network event discusses international physiotherapy workforce

April 6th, 2022

AUSTRALIAN PHYSIOTHERAPY COUNCIL

The Council hosted the Physiotherapy Regulation and Accreditation (PRA) Network’s second virtual panel event discussing International Physiotherapy Workforce on 31 March 2022, with over 100 registrations of international physiotherapy professionals.

Moderated by Kim Gibson, Chair of Physiotherapy Board of Australia, and Anton Barnett-Harris, CEO of the Australian Physiotherapy Council, the event enabled the exchange of valuable inputs about workforce safety and wellbeing, workforce pipeline, and workforce mobility. Panellists shed light on the COVID-19 impacts to the physiotherapy workforce, how regulators and accreditation authorities have been supporting workforce supply, the various responses and lessons learned from the COVID pandemic, and the availability and use of workforce data to guide regulatory action.

Our panellists included:

  • Nirit Rotem Lehrer from Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Israel
  • Habeeb Tunji Ololade from the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists’ (Registration) Board of Nigeria in Nigeria
  • Natalie Beswetherick from the Fellow Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in the United Kingdom

These free and open events by the PRA Network help foster stronger partnerships and collaboration to enhance physiotherapy regulation and accreditation around the world.

If you are involved in physiotherapy regulation and accreditation and would like to be part of the PRA Network, we invite you to contact us on pra.network@physiocouncil.com.au and we will let you know about the upcoming virtual events in 2022.
