Candidates are assessed in all six domains and their ability to identify, manage and address risk during the assessment.
Risk appears as 7. Risk Management Incidents on the Candidate Report,and can be recorded as N/A, PROMPTED, or ASSESSMENT DISCONTINUED.
8. Overall Performance determines whether or not the assessment is satisfactory or unsatisfactory. All six domains must be marked as satisfactory for the assessor to mark the candidate’s overall performance as being satisfactory.
Following the first attempt at all three Clinical Assessments components (musculoskeletal, neurology and cardiorespiratory), Candidates will be advised of the outcome of the Clinical Assessment. The possible outcomes are:
A Candidate who has been rated YES for 8. Overall Performance in each of the three assessment areas has demonstrated they are suitable for independent practice in Australia. The Candidate will be issued with a Final Certificate. The certificate can be presented to the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (the Board) to demonstrate the Candidate has met the General Registration standard for qualification.
A Candidate who has been rated NO for 8. Overall Performance and ASSESSMENT DISCONTINUED for 7. Risk Management Incidents in two or more assessment areas is deemed to be unsuitable for independent practice in Australia. The candidature will end.
With the exception of Candidates who has been rated NO for 8. Overall Performance and ASSESSMENT DISCONTINUED for 7. Risk Management Incidents in two or more assessment areas, all candidates are allowed two attempts at each Clinical Assessment component. Candidates must apply and pay for all additional assessments through the Candidate Dashboard.

Candidates do not need to complete all additional attempts at Clinical Assessments components to be advised of the outcome of the Clinical Assessment. The possible outcomes are:
A Candidate who achieves YES for 8. Overall Performance in all additional assessments have demonstrated that they are suitable for independent practice in Australia. The Candidate will be issued with a Final Certificate. The certificate can be presented to the Board to demonstrate the candidate has met the General Registration standard for qualification.
A Candidate who scores NO for 8. Overall Performance for any additional assessments is deemed to be unsuitable for independent practice in Australia. Any outstanding assessments will be cancelled and the candidature will end.
