The Council hosted the Physiotherapy Regulation and Accreditation (PRA) Network’s third event, Conversations with CEO of World Physiotherapy Jonathon Kruger, in August with physiotherapy professionals involved in accreditation and regulation across the world.
Moderated by the Council’s CEO Anton Barnett-Harris, the event enabled Jonathon to share his perspectives on the challenges the global physiotherapy profession faces today. Amidst pandemic and post-pandemic challenges that vary across the world, Jonathon noted that many healthcare services were impacted, and resuming full access to services has not been straightforward, with workforce shortages and high burnout rates.
The interactive session also highlighted the challenges of workforce retention, workforce mobility, and discussed some of the major trends in the profession including the regulation of physiotherapy assistants and the close collaboration of regulators and professional bodies in Europe. The session also highlighted the silver lining that in the post-pandemic era there is a real opportunity to think innovatively and discussed possibilities the international profession could consider.
As secretariat of the PRA Network, the Council organises free and open events that help build strong partnerships and collaborations to enhance physiotherapy regulation and accreditation around the world.
