The Council’s Express FLYR Pathway has delivered scores of Final Certificates, and driven strong growth in international physiotherapist migration to Australia.

The Australian Physiotherapy Council is proud to share the significant outcomes of the Express FLYR Pathway—a fast-tracked assessment model introduced to address Australia’s growing demand for skilled physiotherapists.

Since its inception, the Express FLYR Pathway has enabled hundreds of internationally qualified physiotherapists to complete key assessment milestones from overseas, and achieve Final Certificates that open the door to general registration in Australia. This pathway is successfully attracting, assessing, and preparing high-quality physiotherapists for the Australian healthcare system—efficiently and at scale.

Since 2023 the Council has:

  • Issued over 1,032 Express FLYR Pathway Final Certificates
  • Added new countries to the Express FLYR pathway, which now includes the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong (SAR of China), Canada and South Africa
  • Enabled candidates to complete the most critical components of their assessment from overseas, reducing cost and increasing accessibility
  • Contributed to workforce supply in both metropolitan and regional settings.

Importantly, Express FLYR has been designed to align with national workforce priorities—supporting international talent pipelines, enabling remote assessment models, and strengthening our system’s responsiveness to urgent physiotherapy workforce needs.

We are proudly contributing to Australia’s physiotherapy workforce in a way that is agile, accountable, and aligned with the needs of our healthcare system. As we continue to deliver this pathway, the Council stands ready to support government initiatives that seek to responsibly grow our regulated health professions.

The Express FLYR Pathway is a proven model that works—and it’s helping Australia secure the physiotherapy workforce it needs to serve our communities.
