Physiotherapist, educator and Council’s Accreditation Panel Assessor Curtley Nelson on his important role of bringing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lens to the work of physiotherapy accreditation.
Of Dunghutti descendent, Curtley shares his unique story of entering the physiotherapy workforce and why he is passionate about seeing more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander physiotherapists.
Curtley describes his experience of working with the Council’s Accreditation team. He talks about assessing programs against the Accreditation Standards in a holistic manner, with an emphasis on integrating cultural safety into the program curriculum. He encourages education providers to be more culturally brave with the end goal of producing empathetic, respectful physiotherapy graduates who are safe for all patients.
