Carl Francia is a Saibai Koedal clansman of the Torres Straits, physiotherapist, academic educator, and a member of the Council’s Accreditation Committee and Panels.
After several years working as a physiotherapist, Carl began his research on Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) after witnessing firsthand the disease’s impact on First Nations patients. He aims for his research to help improve health access and outcomes.
To know more about Carl’s research, read his published work.
As part of the Council’s reconciliation journey, we are proud to partner with Carl to share an important story about the effects of Rheumatic Heart Disease and how improving health equity and access can help to prevent its occurrence in communities across Australia.
