The Council’s annual gathering of the Accreditation Panel Assessors and Committee champions excellence and innovation, and equips our staff to deliver high quality accreditation of physiotherapy programs.

In late March 2026, over 30 members of our accreditation assessors and committee members gathered in Melbourne/Naarm for the Council’s annual accreditation training workshops. These annual workshops ensure all accreditation panels deliver consistent and high-quality accreditation of the 50+ entry-level physiotherapy university programs across Australia.

Training on refreshed Accreditation Standards

This year’s workshop included a strong focus on the Council’s refreshed Accreditation Standards being implemented since October 2025. The revised accreditation standards provide greater emphasis on cultural safety, and encourage and support education providers to align their curricula with national health priorities.

Our accreditation continues to empower universities to foster future-focused graduates, physiotherapists who are ready and equipped to tackle tomorrow’s challenges in healthcare.

Inside the gathering

The Council’s annual accreditation assessor training is far more than an annual tradition—it’s a vital opportunity for assessors to collaborate, connect with colleagues and share learnings from the various university programs they have reviewed and accredited. Participants workshopped how to implement and accredit against the new accreditation standards, and exchanged insights and stories from their extensive experience in academia and clinical practice.

The Council is grateful to the presenters who facilitated workshop sessions, covering leadership and other topics contributing to the ongoing quality of physiotherapy education accreditation.

Celebrating the calibre of our people

Many of our accreditation assessors are long-serving with the Council, bringing a wealth of knowledge and deep expertise to their accreditation work.

Each accreditation panel consists of exceptional individuals who share a dedication to ensuring high standards in education, and professionalism for physiotherapy graduates joining the healthcare workforce.

We greatly appreciate our skilled and expert accreditation assessors and committee members. Thanks to their commitment and knowledge, our accreditation process remains robust, responsive and efficient. Their continuous efforts help us adapt to new changes and uphold the physiotherapy profession’s highest standards.

We especially acknowledge our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members, whose perspectives and contributions enrich every accreditation panel and committee meeting, helping us build a more inclusive and culturally competent physiotherapy profession.

By introducing these new accreditation standards and training our accreditation panels, we are helping to develop the next generation of physiotherapists—professionals who demonstrate clinical expertise, cultural awareness, and practical skills essential for providing safe and effective healthcare to all Australians.
